I have been a designer and
illustrator for over thirty five years working in a variety of media. After a short period as a wallpaper designer and a spell in advertising, I spent many years as a book designer and children's book illustrator. I have designed and illustrated pop-up books for Penguin and chinaware for Royal Doulton.
A course in stained glass in the late eighties opened my eyes to the myriad possibilities of the medium. As someone with an illustration background I was particularly interested in using the techniques of painting, staining and etching the glass to create pattern, texture and to be able to control the light through the glass.
Some of the autonomous (free hanging) panels that I have made are offered for sale on this site. They are made using antique (mouth-blown) glass which has been painted and fired in the traditional
manner.
